Why are some events missing from my report?
Ring only shares events from after you connected this app, so anything earlier can't be included. Events also need to be recorded by Ring in the first place, which requires a Ring plan that saves video.
Why does an event have a snapshot but no video?
Either Ring has no recording for that moment, or the report reached its limit of 2 GB of video. Building a report with a shorter time window includes video for more events. Each clip covers up to 2 minutes of an event; the full recording stays in the Ring app.
Why is one of my cameras greyed out?
Your subscription doesn't cover that camera. You can change which cameras are covered in the Ring app.
How do I share a report with police or my insurer?
Open the report and use Share with police or your insurer. Give the link a name (for example the case or claim number), choose when it expires, and send it. Anyone with the link can view and download that report until it expires. Select Revoke to turn it off at any time.
How long are reports kept?
30 days after they're built, then they're deleted automatically along with their footage. With Report Vault, reports are kept for as long as that subscription is active. Download the evidence ZIP to keep your own copy.
How can someone check the files weren't changed?
Each report lists a SHA-256 fingerprint for every snapshot and video, recorded when it was downloaded from
Ring. The evidence ZIP includes SHA256SUMS.txt: run sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS.txt on
Mac or Linux, or Get-FileHash <file> in Windows PowerShell, and compare.
How do I cancel or disconnect?
- Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in the Ring app.
- Disconnect the app from your Ring account in the Ring app. We delete our access to your cameras right away.
- Delete your account and all reports from the Account page here.
